CR2C2 Introduces Engineering to Students at Pilot Elementary
The Center for Regional and Rural Connected Communities (CR2C2) visited Pilot Elementary School, where they introduced 540 students—from kindergarten to fifth grade—to the exciting world of engineering.
With students from kindergarten through fifth grade, they learned about a variety of STEM activities designed to spark curiosity about the field. CR2C2 team members introduced students to basic engineering concepts, shared real-world applications—like how airplanes are made—and facilitated interactive demonstrations.
A highlight of the visit was a talk by Komal Gulati, the new Chair of the Student Leadership Council, who shared her personal journey into engineering. Her message: problem-solving can be both impactful and fun, and engineering is a place where creativity meets real-world change.
The day concluded with an exciting drone demonstration led by Azmol Fuad, giving a few lucky students the chance to fly a drone themselves.
CR2C2 extends sincere thanks to the staff and leadership at Pilot Elementary for their support and hospitality, and looks forward to future opportunities to inspire students through STEM.
