Smart Intersection

In collaboration with City of Greensboro, this outdoor smart intersection test facility located at E Market & Dudley is under development to be ready by Dec 2025. It is equipped with an integrated system of advanced sensors and networking hardware designed to monitor and evaluate real-world traffic scenarios. The site includes LiDAR, radars, roadside units, and edge computing systems housed in upgraded traffic control cabinets. These components are networked using high-speed CAT6 cabling and industrial-grade switches, enabling real-time data aggregation and communication without interfering with existing signal operations. The setup supports research in connected vehicle environments, traffic analytics, and infrastructure intelligence, making it a cutting-edge platform for developing and testing smart city technologies in a live urban setting.
