Jamestown Middle School Math and Science Scholars Explore STEM Innovation at CR2C2
On December 17, 2025, the Center for Regional and Rural Connected Communities welcomed 58 seventh- and eighth-grade Math and Science Scholars from Jamestown Middle School for an inspiring STEM-focused campus visit. The students, recognized for their strong academic performance and interest in science and mathematics, were rewarded with an opportunity to explore real-world innovation through an immersive experience at NC A&T.
During their visit, Dr. Ali Karimoddini engaged the group with remarks emphasizing the importance of STEM education and the limitless opportunities available to students who pursue science and technology pathways.
A highlight of the day was the students’ tour of the CR2C2 transportation facility, where they received a rare, up-close look at cutting-edge transportation research happening on campus. Students witnessed a live drone demonstration, walking through the research process from early design stages to real-time testing.
One of the most memorable moments came during the drone flight simulations, where students took turns engaging directly with the technology. As they interacted with the simulations, students asked thoughtful questions, gaining insight into what it truly looks like to pursue research at the university level.
Visits like these serve as powerful reminders of why outreach matters. At CR2C2, we believe that fostering a love for science and technology begins with creating opportunities for exploration, exposure, and hands-on learning. We look forward to welcoming even more future changemakers into our space.
