Komal Gulati Selected for 2025 Eno Leadership Development Conference
Komal Gulati, a PhD student in Electrical Engineering and Chair of the CR2C2 Student Leadership Council, was honored to be selected for the highly competitive 2025 Leadership Development Conference (LDC) organized by the Eno Center for Transportation in Washington, D.C. This prestigious week-long fellowship immerses emerging transportation leaders in the inner workings of federal policymaking, offering a rare and valuable opportunity to learn firsthand how transportation policy is developed, debated, and implemented at the highest levels of government.
Throughout the conference, Komal engaged with senior officials, thought leaders, and fellow scholars shaping the future of transportation in the United States. Key visits included the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), and both the House and Senate buildings on Capitol Hill. She also participated in a legislative briefing that provided deep insights into current infrastructure policy challenges and priorities.
One of the conference’s highlights was a mock bill simulation where participants worked in teams to advocate for legislation and propose amendments. This hands-on experience offered a unique window into the complexities and nuances of federal policymaking and reinforced Komal’s passion for transportation leadership.
Reflecting on her experience, Komal said,
"I am incredibly grateful to my advisor, Dr. Venktesh Pandey, for encouraging me to apply and for his unwavering support throughout the process. Attending LDC was truly transformative, expanding my understanding of the policy landscape and strengthening my professional network. As Chair of CR2C2’s Student Leadership Council, I was proud to represent my university on this national stage."
Komal also expressed sincere thanks to the Center for Regional and Rural Connected Communities (CR2C2) and its director, Dr. Ali Karimoddini, for their continued encouragement and support.
